Big Step Forward for Site Hoarding

May 20, 2019

We have been working closely with client Willmott Dixon on a new system of site hoarding which offers many benefits.

The system replaces the traditional timber post, rail and plywood system with plastic panels fixed to scaffold poles using purpose made clips. The system is quicker to install, can be fully dismantled with no waste and can be re used several times on future schemes. Although all timber supplied in our traditional hoarding is FSC certified, dismantling results in much waste and requires redecoration to maintain a fresh appearance when re used. The new system can incorporate our surface mounted concrete ballast blocks which we pioneered seven years ago and have become a great success. Although more expensive initially, the new system is cost effective due to its durability and through our 'buy back' offer. Plastic panels can be suppied in the required corporate colours or in white which is made using 100% recycled material such as old window frames.

Nick Corrigan, Director of Willmott Dixon is enthusiastic about the system..

"On our Ingleby Barwick Leisure Centre project we asked Middleton Forge to install their new hoarding system. The system is superior to timber both in terms of its sharp, professional appearance and the ease with which it can be cleaned to maintain this look. As a company we are keen to minimise waste and encourage such innovations to help us achieve this. We have worked with Middleton Forge for many years and take advantage of their offer to buy back and store salvaged hoarding materials for re use. Their new system will exploit this facility further resulting in less waste and ultimately lower costs. It addition to the environmental benefits the system also eliminates the need to break ground and the risks of encountering buried services"
