End of the Road for Crowtree Leisure Centre

23/10/2013

We have build an excellent working relationship over the past few years with Willmott Dixon Construction Ltd working on many diverse schemes. When they approached us about this challenging project we knew that meticulous planning and design were key to it's safe and successful execution.

Senior Building Manager Sean McNicholas explains...

We appointed Middleton Forge following a number of successful projects over the past 5 years across the North East. Crowtree Leisure Centre Demolition is a particularly challenging project in the fact that 400,000 people walk past the site on a weekly basis. The project is situated in the City Centre of Sunderland adjacent to one of the busiest Shopping Centres in the North East. The line on which we were given to erect our hoarding was littered with services so we approached Middleton Forge to come up with an alternative, suitable solution than the traditional 'concreted post'. They offered a 'lego block' system which negated the need for any excavation. The installation was quick, tidy and safe. The guys work part as part of our team rather than taking a them and us attitude-something that we expect as a minimum at Willmott Dixon. They are made a quick and efficient start and dealt with any unforeseen developments minimising any impact to the project as a whole. Generally, a good experience and one of our better Contractors.
