Seaham Harbour Marina

We were contacted last September by Seaham Harbour Marina following a recommendation as a manufacturer and installer of bespoke railings, gates and barriers. This was to be part of the continuation of their development on County Durham’s Heritage Coast. The marina is managed by a Community Interest Company (CIC) which is a not-for-profit organisation. Its principle objective is for a sustainable development that will serve the community and aims to provide, and continually improve, facilities for maritime activities.

Due to the works being carried out within Seaham Conservation Area and adjacent to a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), there were many design conditions and restrictions which we helped the client to overcome. The work was also logistically complicated by the need to install railings between a road and a cliff edge and around rocks near the water’s edge. Neil worked closely with Norman Conn, Marina Operations Supervisor to carefully design, plan and execute the work.

Norman, who was very appreciative of our efforts, said:

All of the staff I had dealings with at Middleton Forge were very professional and considerate. They understood and dealt with the many sensitive issues we were faced with and we’re very pleased with the end result.
